Philippians 3:12-14 (The Message Bible)

I'm not saying that I have this all together, that I have it made. But I am well on my way, reaching out for Christ, who has so wondrously reached out for me. Friends, don't get me wrong: By no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I've got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward—to Jesus. I'm off and running, and I'm not turning back.

Trendy or Trashy?

I wore this shirt to the other day and I really had a battle within about it.

I saw someone wear a shirt like this to work out in a few months ago and I thought it was so cute. I found one really cheap at Ross and bought it. When I put it on though, it felt really nakedy. I wasn't sure if it was because I have NEVER worn anything see-thru before (and have never worn just a sports bra and shorts) or if it truely was inappropriate.

What does it say to you? Does it say "Look at me! I'm wearing a see-thru shirt!!!" or does it just say "trendy and keeping cool while working out?"

The shirt is extremely thin and soft and comfy...but that isn't why I bought it....I bought it because I thought it was cute. I do NOT, however, want to look like I'm trying to draw attention to myself (or my body) by wearing it. I know I'm probably making way too big of a deal about this...but I just wanted to see what ya'lls opinions are.

Oh great! Now I just thought about the fact that I am posting it for you all to see--so if you decide its "trashy" I've just shown it to everyone! wonderful...:o)

Personally, I wouldn't wear it, except at home. I've never been one to wear just a sports bra and shorts, without a tank top or something over it. Not that I think there is anything wrong with it, but I myself do not feel comfortable and feel self-conscious if I'm showing my belly (which is strange, because yes, I do wear a bikini to swim...but my husband is usually with me, or I'm at home in our pool).
That's just me though...I think it's that little "former fat girl" in me that still thinks there is way to much fat on my stomach to be showing it off...plus I don't want to draw unwanted attention from men...I get enough stares as it is (which is a compliment yes, but can sometimes be unnerving.)
If you don't feel overly self-conscious when wearing it, then wear it. If you do, wear it at home, when you workout there.

First of all, you look good in it. I think what one can wear has a lot to do with their confidence. If you feel pretty and comfortable wearing it, then wear it.

I like to be comfortable when I work out. I hope to be running again in the spring. I often see women running in spandex shorts and a sports bra. I put a tank or t shirt over that when I walk as I am embarrassed about my stomach.

But if I were at your level of fitness, I would dump the t shirt and be comfortable. One of the benefits of getting fit is to dress stylishly. I'll be darned if I'm gonna work my butt off to lose the weight and then dress like somebody's grandmother! LOL

I can't wait to wear something like what you have on in public and feel comfortable about it!

First off, I think you have to do what makes you comfortable (as you've told me before too ha ha). In the picture it doesn't look too "out there" or trashy. That thin material does seem really soft, so I'm sure its comfy and that's really what counts when working out. I will say though that when I first saw the picture when it popped up I was like "Whoa! She is looking HOT!" , so no, I don't think it looks bad AT ALL! I think it looks really nice on you. Do you have a white sports bra or a colored one other than black? Maybe it will look even cuter with a bright color under it, or less dramatic with white under it. Just ideas, but it looks really cute just the way it is too :)

I think that you look great. There is nothing trashy about that shirt or the fact that you're wearing it. You aren't even showing any cleavage. You could wear a paper bag and you will still get attention regardless. So long as you feel comfortable and God isn't in your ear about it then I say wear it. :-)
